Pila has over 40 years of experience , being in the Knuckles Mountain Range and both Hari and Katharina are FGASA qualified Nature guides , who have trained in South Africa and are there to give you the best Guided experience Knuckles has to offer. The team is qualified to handle and conduct all outbound activities offered by “ By Foot Adventures” adhering to all safety requirements and professional standards.
We have a one of a kind chef , Navaraj, who is responsible for all the wonderful cuisine, that hits the table during your meal hours. He is a local in this area and is gifted with the art of cooking just about anything and everything, I am sure that his food will keep your body temperature high at this altitude.

But everyone calls me Pila. This name is very popular in the hills.
I have been in this trade for 5 years. At age of 13 I started visiting the famous Knuckles range and forgotten valley of Sri Lanka.
Now I’m 54 years old. Nearly 34 years of experience that I have put in to my adventure and nature trails. I’m the only naturalist available in the Kandyan hills at present. By Foot Adventures Sri Lanka is a company specializing in ecotourism camping adventures that take you into the heart of the Sri Lankan wilderness.
My name is Haritha , but everybody calls me” Hari”. The passion for wild life and the need for conservation is what drove me into this field. Ever since I was little boy I’ve been spending most of my time in these wilderness areas. The initial introduction to knuckles was given to me by my loving father Senani (AKA- Pila), who is also a well know Guide and conservationist at the knuckles mountain range . We have both being working as guides in different national parks in Sri lanka and I have receieved most of my Guiding education in South Africa. I am a Qualified Nature Guide and fully qualified Trails Guide in Africa. But the need for conservation and awareness that knuckle need drove me back into the paradise island . I would like to offer guests the best guided experience through the mountains and educate people on the hidden beauties and the endemic Flora and Fauna that this Mountain range nurtures and spread the word to conserve.

Just like Pila and Hari it was the passion for nature that brought me here. I set out from Germany to Africa to make my childhood dream come true and to follow my true passion for wildlife. I got all my guiding qualifications and experience in africa and a new life path opened up. After my first visit to Knuckles it was immediately clear that this is the place in which I would like to invest my time and energy to further explore this unique and still untouched piece of land and to bring it closer to other people.
